Parents of elementary students are getting letters sent home
saying their child is too fat. These
letters have been going around in 19 states in the US. The schools put in the student’s weight and
height and measure their body mass index.
Then the school decides if the child is overweight or not. The problems are that the computer can’t measure
fat from muscle. Students call these letters
“fat letters” and make a child very insecure and they begin to think of school
as a place where they will only get judged in. As if children don’t already
have bullies to worry about, now they have to be cautious around adults. It’s a bad idea and the children’s parents and
the child should be the only ones in charge of their weight. http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/24/opinion/navarrette-fat-letters/index.html?hpt=he_c2

200 lb. Anorexic
When you think of anorexia almost all people think of a
stick thin girl, ribs showing, looking really unhealthy and almost dying but
what people don’t think about is that anyone can be anorexic, we just can’t tell
because they’ve just started. Ali Hougnou is 200
pounds and suffering from anorexia. She
tried dieting first but nothing really did it until she went to her grandparent’s
house for the whole summer and ate healthy foods, like they did and spent all
day outdoors being active- just like her grandparents did. She lost 15 pounds by the time she came back
to school. She started starving herself
and lost 40 pounds. Pediatricians were
proud from the weight loss but were blinded by the great weight loss to see
that she was turning anorexic and losing the weight the wrong way. She is now 22 and a normal weight helping
others with eating disorders. http://www.nbcnews.com/health/200-pound-anorexic-obese-teens-risk-disorder-its-often-unrecognized-4B11216388

Nothing Was The Same
“Nothing Was the Same” Drake's much anticipated album was leaked
on the 15 of September. It was supposed
to come out on September 24th but leaked out on Twitter 9 days
early. The hype for his album started
early when the song by Migos “Versace” came out and Drake’s verse contained “The album is
coming September, just wait on it.” His fans were waiting ever
since. The album contains 13 songs, some
of which are his famous “Hold on We’re Going Home.” His style for the album has a very R&B
feel for it mixed with rap. His lyrics
make the album live up to the hype Drake set it at, and it is sure to not disappoint. http://hollywoodlife.com/2013/09/16/drake-new-album-leak-nothing-was-the-same-review/

Jennifer or Jen?
Jennifer or Jen? For online daters “Jen” would be a more
appropriate choice. Statistics from an
online dating site called Badoo.com show that online daters prefer a nickname
over the longer- original name. The reason
for this preference is that a nickname gives the daters a warmer feel to the
person with the shorter name. Tests ran
in the US, Canada, the UK, Brazil, France,
Spain, Italy and Germany
all show the same results. A shorter name simply gives out a friendlier
message, rather than a whole- longer name which researchers say would intimidate
the dater. The same results are shown
for both genders.

Selling Pregnancy Tests- Used
Women who are expecting decide to
make some easy cash to help their baby funds by selling their pregnancy tests,
used and positive. Across the nation
women use the network Craigslist to sell their tests for $20-$40. These tests turned out to be a good seller for
the girls out there who want to pull pranks on parents, boyfriends, or
friends. As twisted as it sounds girls
even use it for revenge on ex-boyfriends.
Others put them to a good cause and use them to make films for teen
pregnancy prevention such as a woman from Los Angeles in her local Boys and
Girls Club. For whatever the use the used
tests are selling and the soon-to-be mom are sure profiting.
